Hiya! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's Day by showing the one's you care about how much you love them. In a way you're giving back to them for all the time, energy and emotions they've invested ~ and vice versa. But it's silly to believe that you should only do this one day out of the year! Do more!
For this weeks donation I did my research a little too late. There is an awesome site called 'Charity Greetings' where you can send ecards along with money for donations of either the sender and receiver's choice! I would have loved to given by such means, but I'll definitely keep it in mind for next time. There is also another site called 'Change.org' where instead of donating money, they ask for your advocacy this Valentine's day. They seek support for a campaign to stop the use of forced/child labour to mine diamonds ~ I know not everyone gives diamonds on this occasion, but it's something to keep in mind in order to make someone else's life better! There is one final website I'd like to share called 'Causes' where you can purchase Valentine's gifts from them and they will donate part of the proceeds to one of five charities. Give back this Valentine's Day to more than just the people you know because love is contagious.
With that all said, this week I'm making a donation to 'Variety: The Children's Charity' ~ an organization dedicated to making a profound difference in the spirt and lives of children and young people with disabilitites. They achieve this by improving the quality of life and integration into society of all children, regardless of their abilities. Variety inspire 'belief' into children, because when you believe, they believe in themselves too ~ to see the their potential and become active and proud of their accomplishments. By offering specialized programs and services, they create a level playing field without barriers, intimidation or other obstacles. This encourages all children to reach for their goals so they can feel comfortable enough to participate in a game of wheelchair basketball, give a motivational speech in front of hundreds of business people, or apply for their first job.
I challenge anyone to do more.
