Do More Mondays - #132 - Pride Toronto

World Pride 2014 is just around the corner - from June 20 to 29 - and Toronto will be hosting an array of events.  These include: an opening ceremony, an international human rights conference, a variety of networking and social events including Canada Day and American Independence Day celebrations and an exhibition commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.

As venture through the city I watch it transform and it warms my heart.  Nevermind the lure of tourism and profiteering.  There is a higher level of acceptance and it is beautiful.  The LGBT pride is a powerful symbol self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, visibility, community, diversity and variance.  I am bisexual and I want to live in a better world - more so I believe it is attainable.

Pride Toronto is a non-profit organization responsible for Pride Week - this upcoming event.  It is an arts and cultural festival with an attendance over 1.2 million people.  I have attended the annual parade for a number of years and I will continue to show my support.  It is rich in history worth honouring by remembering the achievements being celebrated.  I encourage everyone to check out this infographic as well as look into keeping these stories alive.
Protect your future by reaching out, educating and defending your right to celebrate.
Celebrate with provocative, racy, and outrageous events.
I challenge anyone to do more.
