Do More Mondays - #4 - "Covenant House Toronto"

Hiya!  I can't believe it's already been one week ~ that felt fast o.o"  I guess that's what happens when I keep myself busy.  I don't know if I actually like that, but I do certainly like helping others! :D  So let's get to it!

This week I'm donating $10 to "Convenant House Toronto" because it reminds me of a girl I used to know in high school.  It's hard to say whether or not we were friends but we knew of one another, seldom talked, and infrequently hung out with mutual friends.  She was a goth: pale skin, long dark hair, dressed dark but with a statement, and thought strongly of certain issues like politics and religion.  I found her to be mysterious and fascinating ~ which makes me regret not getting to know her better when I had the chance to.

I don't know how true this is, but when we were in grade ten I heard that she had family problems.  And that during an outting downtown with mutual friends she went her own seperate way with a German looking man.  After that I began to see less of her at school and online until eventually never at all.  Later I had heard she that she was staying at the Convenant House.

Last year she added me on Facebook, but after a few months she deleted the account.  Her occupation said 'professional model' and the pictures she posted of herself were incredibly beautiful ~ she had tattoos, piercings, and sandy brown hair.  Earlier this year I found her profile on FetLife; she is quite the kinkster.  I'm really glad she's doing well for herself.  (One of her recent tweets ~ "#tweetyour16yearoldself You won't regret moving out. You can't get rid of fear if you don't face it. And piercings won't agree with you")

That was a long story with an ending I don't necessarily endorse >>".  I don't like teenagers because most of them think they know everything.  But what I hate more is seeing teenagers in situations where they have no control over and feel that their only option is to run away.  For these youth, it goes beyond being "emo".  It's a harsh reality that shouldn't happen because they are the future and some of them have a lot of potential given the right opportunities in life.

I challenge anyone to do more.
