I love tennis. One of my earliest memories was learning to play at sports camps during the summer breaks. At an outing to the Rogers Cup (then known as the du Maurier Open or Canadian Open) I got my photo taken and signed with Martina Hingis. Interestingly, I was more into women's professional tennis whereas now I follow the men's tour more closely.
At the moment Canadian tennis is making headlines because our top players are steadily climbing the world rankings. Names like Milos Raonic, Eugenie Bouchard and Vasek Pospisil are becoming household, while longstanding players like Daniel Nestor are taking legendary status. It is very inspiring.
That is why this week I'm supporting Tennis Canada ~ a non-profit, national sport association formed in 1890 responsible for leading the growth, promotion and showcasing of tennis in Canada. They oversee a wide range of initiatives for developing higher performance, competition, programs, resources and partnerships. Tennis Canada also owns and operates two premier events on the ATP and WTA, six ITF events, two national training centres, and are members of numerous tennis federations, Olympic committees, and sponsorships.
Rogers Cup main draw began today and the tournament runs until the 10th ~ I got day session tickets for Wednesday!
I challenge anyone to do more.
