Hiya! This week I've accidentally cut it a little too close to the end of the day, but it's still Monday! What's more, today is 'Family Day' in certain parts of Canada!
That is why this week I'm making a donation to 'Big Brothers Big Sisters' ~ a non-profit organization that provides mentors to children and youth in need of additional positive adult support. They are committed to matching adults with children between the ages of 6 and 18 in a one-to-one or group, volunteer based, mentoring relationship that is fun and rewarding. They have found that children who have been in their program see real, positive change. Littles go on to graduate from high school at a rate of 20% higher than the national average. 78% of Littles who came from a social assistance background no longer rely on this form of income and a disproportionately high number of former Littles graduate from college or university compared to others in their age group. Currently, over 27,000 children are matched with adults in one-to-one programs but 10,000 kids are on waiting lists.
I challenge anyone to do more.
