Hiya! Cutting it close to the end of the day so this'll be a bit short ~ my bad. I usually have an idea with where I want to make a donation earlier in the week, but I've been preoccupied with other things. I'm always open to suggestions so this week I'm getting back to one I recieved from Twitter.
This week I'm making a donation to 'Salthaven: Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre' ~ a volunteer wildlife rehabilitation facility located just outside of London, Ontario in Mount Brydges. During the spring, summer and fall they receives 25 to 30 calls a day regarding displaced, sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife. The calls come from local and regional police, humane societies, animal care and control agencies, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Canadian Wildlife Services and the concerned public. Lead by founder and direction Brian Salt, Salthaven's edicated group of volunteer caregivers has successfully treated and released countless healthy wild birds and animals back to their appropriate habitat in the wild. They offer education programs to elementary and secondary schools, developed to match the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum expectations for each grade. I encourage everyone to read this article ~ it's a great introduction detailing what and how Salthaven has helped the local wildlife and influenced others.
I challenge anyone to do more.
