Yesterday marked the ten year anniversary of the September 11th attack. I hope everyone had a chance to take the time to remember and honour all of those who lost their lives or loved ones and to be thankful for the selfless acts of support and aid. I feel that a lot of the time when we talk about what has changed since then it mainly concerns safety and politics. But what about the victims that must live with the loss of a loved one or are scared by injury and trauma? Time doesn't heal all wounds; it takes love, nurture, trust, support, and so much more.
That is why this week I'm making a donation to 'Tuesday's Children' ~ a non-profit family service organization founded by family and friends of the 9/11 victims, that has made a long term commitment to every individual impacted by the events of September 11, 2001 and more recently those who have been impacted by terrorist incidents worldwide. They promote healing and recovery by strengthening family resilience, providing individual coping and life management skills and creating community through programs, mental health support and family engagement opportunities. With a focus on strength through community, Tuesday's Children, in partnership with recognized leaders in the fields of child development, family advocacy and mentoring initiatives has developed an innovative platform of programs designed to address the ongoing needs of thousands of children coping with one of the worst tragedies in the history of our nation.
I challenge anyone to do more.
