Friday the 11th was Remembrance Day ~ a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries since the end of World War I to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Sadly, many wars have been fought since its inception. To honour all the veterans and troops, past and present, young and old, thousands of memorials have been set up so we never forget. I think it is crucially important to give to those who gave.
This week I'm making a donation to "War Memorials Trust" ~ a charity that works for the protection and conservation of war memorials across the UK. In addition to monitoring and restoring memorials, they provide a wealth of education about war and history, their social context and legacy. The War Memorials Trust administers three grant schemes which between them cover the whole of the UK. It's easy to glance past a memorial, but one should never be ungrateful with what it represents and how it has shaped the way we live today ~ the significance and commemoration is vital.

I challenge anyone to do more.
