Do More Mondays - #58 - Meal Exchange

Whether you celebrated Thanksgiving this month or last, the idea of being thankful for everything one possesses is very virtuous. Often times we celebrate this virtue with an abundance of food among family and friends. It's easy to forget about what other people are unable to be thankful to have. Hunger is a problem that exists, not only in third-world countries, all throughout the world. There could be thousands going without regular meals daily in your city. Put yourself in one of their shoes, it's not easier said than done. Skip a meal and donate what it would have cost to someone who needs it. Making a difference is easy.

This week I'm making a donation to "Meal Exchange" ~ a national youth-driven charity against hunger and poverty in Canada that offering students in universities, colleges, and secondary schools fun and creative programs that blend student energy and passion with their strengths and capacities as youth leaders. Their aims and objectives are to donate to those in need, educate about the root causes of hunger, create opportunities and involve students activity, and to identify and implement solutions. Throughout the year Meal Exchange promote fundraising programs such as 'Trick-or-Eat', 'Skip a Meal', and 'Clear the Shelves', as well as leadership conferences such as 'Ingredients for Learning' and 'StomachThis! Workshop'. There is a wealth of information and resources for ways to get involved on their website ~ I encourage everyone to go have a look!

I challenge anyone to do more.
