Do More Mondays - #70 - Family Service Toronto

Today in Family Day, a provincial statutory holiday that celebrates the equality of families in its diverse structures ~ whether it is defined by two same/opposite sex people, related by blood, marriage, single parents, adoption, or simply a commitment to care for one another. Traditional and conventional ways of thinking are constantly being challenged, many families cross boundaries of race, culture, ethnicity, sexuality, ability and disability, language, etc. We celebrate families which include special friends and neighbours who become "part of the family". I feel extremely fortunate to live in a country free to create relationships across all boundaries.

That is why this week I'm making a donation to "Family Service Toronto" ~ they assist families and individuals through counselling, community development, advocacy and public education programs. They envision people living with dignity in thriving neighbourhoods and inclusive communities which are free of violence, public policy is grounded in social and economic justice, accessibility to all, and the successful transition in every individuals life stages. A much more thorough strategic plan FST has been working to achieve can be found here. Furthermore a list of programs, services, and areas of expertise can be found here ~ these include seniors and care giving support, lesbian and gay community counselling, discussion in depression, stress, abuse and violence, among many others. There is a wealth of information on their website and I encourage anyone to browse through it.

For people. For change.
I challenge anyone to do more
