Do More Mondays - #71 - Beyond Borders

There is a campaign going around town called 'Man to Man' (endthedemand.ca) that's encouraging everyone to take action against child sex offenders ~ 90% of whom are males. They come from every income bracket, profession and neighbourhood. It’s a very small percentage of men doing a huge amount of damage. Men have a unique role to play in stopping the demand side of child sexual exploitation. They can act as strong role models and can speak out against attitudes and actions that sexually victimize children and youth. Taking action against this crime comes in various forms: reporting abuse and exploitation, become educated and take a stance, joining the online conversation, volunteer, donate, hosting a fundraising event, etc. There is no such thing as an action too small to make a big impact.

That is why this week I'm making a donation to "Beyond Borders" ~ a national, bilingual, volunteer organization advancing the rights of children everywhere to be free from sexual abuse and exploitation. They are a registered charity without political or religious affiliation. Beyond Borders is the Canadian representative of ECPAT International, a global network of more than 82 groups in 75 countries. They advocate for improved legislations, monitor and intervene in court cases for human rights violations and provide a voice for victims, they promote/support effective prevention and intervention initiatives, and provide training and education for greater awareness. There is a section on the Beyond Borders website noting their successes, I encourage anyone to read them and be inspired!

I challenge anyone to do more
