Happiness Project: February

It is the end of January and time for another Happiness Project progress check followed by new resolutions for February!  This past month I wanted to:

  • Smile even when no one is around to see it
  • Speak up because my voice is soft and low
  • Always say hello ~ be the first to break the ice

The contributing success of all these goals has helped shape my attitude on self-image and communication.  I feel more confident.  When I choose to be happy I can project that attitude for other people to feel.  Act the way you want to feel.

As an example, I felt optimistic after doing a number of job interviews this month.  I may not have been the most qualified or experienced prospect but I didn't let it dishevel me because I put on an image of success.  If I appeared positive and spoke strongly than I was content and confident.  Fake it till you make it.

When I first thought about resolutions in February the theme of 'love' immediately came to mind ~ most likely because of Valentine's Day.  There are many things I love in this world but above all else I love life the most.  I will not take it for granted.  This month I will:

  • love myself
  • love my family and show it
  • love my friends and communicate it

It is broader than my earlier resolutions but you must 'give love to feel love' and there are many way to do each.  For example; I can take care of my health better by sleeping earlier and exercising regularly, I can spend more time with family or share experiences they can be proud of, I can call my friends rather than text message or encourage them to do more with their interests.

Progress is a slow processes but by doing a little each day growth and happiness comes hand in hand.
