Do More Mondays - #118 - Floyd Honey Foundation

At work I'm given a food allowance for in-store purchases.  I don't usually eat a heavy lunch so I often use the remaining pay for a takeaway.  After work when I walk to the subway station I usually give the food to the homeless.  Lately with the temperature dropping significantly I haven't seen any homeless - I imagine shelters have welcomed them in.

While researching shelters for this week, I came across the Floyd Honey Foundation ~ they advocate for homeless youth in Toronto and actively involve young people to take initiative in said cause.  One of their projects is Walk for Homeless Youth ~ schools are invited to join in a fundraiser for FHF in support of Eva's Phoenix.  This video highlights the event quite clearly...

I am impressed by the idea of possibly walking 17km in very cold weather tomorrow.  The discomfort it creates strongly illustrates how a homeless person may feel.  The independent schools partnering with FHF are all prestiges ~ families with a lot of money and children of abundant privilege.  It goes without saying that being aware of social issues is important, especially when you can make the difference.

I challenge anyone to do more.
