Everyday last week while waiting at the bus stop I glanced at this charity garage sale poster. What a thoughtful thing to do - I constantly thought. I didn't have the opportunity to check it out on Saturday but I hope it went well.
This week I'm making a donation to Last Chance Horse & Pony Rescue ~ a non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates abused, unwanted, and neglected horses and ponies. In turn, they are given a second chance as therapy animals and educators to children and adults in our community. People are given the opportunity to be with, learn about, and learn from, these wonderful animals without the incredibly high cost of ownership or the political side of show barns.
Last Chance facilities allow anyone, despite their income or experience level, the benefits of being with horses and ponies. Individuals with disabilities as well as young adults from community living and correctional services learn the responsibility of caring for these animals, teaching them general equine welfare, and, as they bond with the horses and ponies, the therapeutic benefits of these remarkable creatures.
I challenge anyone to do more.
