GoodLife Toronto Marathon

I am very proud to say I completed my second half-marathon (third road race this season) and did much better than anticipated!  I shaved 9min and 30sec since last October.  As I'm getting more serious about running strong signs of improvement motivate me to push harder.

My first half-marathon ~ 1:51:36 with an average pace of 5:17
Today's half-marathon ~ 1:42:06 with an average pace of 4:51
(according to the time chips the race provides, my watch is only marginally different)

The starting line was crowded and more disorganized than I'm used to seeing but as soon as it started space was no longer an issue.  Also as with most morning runs it was chilly but comfortable once in rhythm.  I could have done without 30km/hr winds ~ going east was especially troubling since the end was nearing but nature wouldn't let up.  Crowd support was fairly dense but STWM remains my benchmark since cheers could be felt right to my bones.  Though I am always humbled by spectators with their cowbells and motivational posters!

Most importantly I had a lot of fun and charities benefited.  I really began to doubt myself after some aches at around 17km but I wouldn't let myself slow down.  I frequently shout at myself with "come on!" and "strong finish!" and it works.  Unfortunately I didn't raise any money for The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation but I have been for next weekends race in support of Camp Oochigeas.
