Do More Mondays - #151 - The Movember Foundation

Despite being incapable of growing beautiful facial hair in the span of one month, I've been peer pressured by my team to make it happen!  Coming to work this morning and seeing some baby faces was a funny surprise.  Participating is all for fun and going to a good cause but being aware of men's health issues - such as prostate and testicular cancer - is equally important.

The Movember Foundation is the leading global organization committed to changing the face of men’s health.  Beginning in Australia in 2003, the Movember community has raised $574 million to date and funded over 800 programs in 21 countries.  This work aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths.  Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

There is a lot of transparency with where funds are going and coming from, as well as what research is being impacted and how funds raised are invested into programs.
