Do More Mondays - #155 - Mealshare

Earlier today at work I found out that our team raised $2398 for last months Movember fund!  It was just shy of our $2500 goal so the boss generously pitched in the rest - that's incredibly awesome.  As well, thank you to all of those who supported my efforts!  #lifesapicnic

Giving a portion of the profits from cookies, coffees and all of our tips has shown me ways people choose to be charitable.  People don't like being asked for donations; it is a personal decision involving many factors condensed into a simple yes or no answer.  It isn't an upsell or a guilt trip ~ just a feel good when money is given.

As a person who frequently makes donations, I cannot stress enough to be aware of where the money goes - did it provide counselling for someone, help build a house, or just go to overhead?  In terms of funding research, what where some new advances, did it affect statistics, or how available is treatment?

Being a part of the food services and learning about the business, as well as my passion for charity, has lead me to Mealshare.  They partner with local restaurants and brand menu items; purchase one meal and one meal will be provided to someone in need.  It's that simple.  In each city that Mealshare operates, it works with a different local charity ~ in Toronto's case, with Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre. The organization also works with Save the Children, which provides meals to children in Africa.

I don't dine out very often but I'm happy to donate directly.
I challenge anyone to do more.
