My only gripe with the holidays falls in the space between not being religious and not engaging in compulsory commercial activities. A lot of the time I don't like giving things to people who can afford them; with some exceptions like sentimentality. Generosity isn't always measured in monetary value despite what corporations try to sell you. I want to give compassion, time, forgiveness, encouragement and comfort to my family and friends.
In the past I made donations to toy drives, food banks, shelters, etc. This week I had difficulty finding a charity not because there weren't any that asked "what do you need for Christmas?" as opposed to want. Rather, I wanted to do something different so I'm going to Be a Santa to a Senior...
I challenge anyone to do more.
