There are weeks when I find it surprisingly difficult to pick a charity to support. There is an abundance of respectable foundations that need contributions but at times my heart isn't there with them. I don't believe I'm a bad person for being picky, but I also don't understand what I need to feel in order to want to make a donation.
Earlier I had this issue, before requiring a breezy run around my neighbourhood to clear my head. During my run I saw a shooting star pass over me - it was close enough to make out a remarkable burning green. At first I was in disbelief and thought it might be a Roman candle, but I didn't hear anything go off. When I got home I checked what others had to say on Twitter. I was right and it felt quite special to experience.
In that moment of seeing a meteorite, I thought about Make-A-Wish Foundation ~ they grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Isn't that something special as well?
I challenge anyone to do more.
