By now I am quite positive everyone is familiar with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.  I have thought about how to write my opinion on the campaign without seeming insensitive and luckily Mike Rowe puts it more eloquently than I could.

I have always thought it was gimmicky, but I have also always believed that every celebrity has its charity.  I do not discourage people from donating their hard earned money to a foundation of their choosing but at the same time I do encourage people to be informed by the ways they give.  Transparency is crucial especially when resources get diverted to causes that affect a smaller number of peoples (verses those that are near epidemic).

It isn't always easy to see the bigger picture and had I not researched how my donation gets used I would have been another ice bucket challenger.

I challenge anyone to do more.
