Do More Mondays - #143 - Toronto International Film Festival

The Toronto International Film Festival is in town and I have tickets for three movies ~ two are political documentaries on Arab countries (The Wanted 18 and Silvered Water, Syria Self-Portrait).  I have put some thought into how I'd like to make this weeks donation correspond with what I'll be experiencing but it hasn't been easy since there are many humanitarian aids.

Looking closer to home, I hadn't noticed that TIFF is a charity ~ they have three funds, transparent with their reports, and an overall A- grade on MoneySense 2013 charity list.  I cannot begin to describe how many ways they use contributions to make a difference; it is multi-facet and more than just film accessibility.  I have read some inspiring stories including TIFF serving as a platform to support emerging filmmakers, as well as collecting, preserving and restoring film and film-related artifacts.

A festival that is more than just a celebration, but also a cultural organization with a mission to transform the way people see the world, through film.

I challenge anyone to do more.
